Aladdin Production

 Hi,

In the last 13 weeks we have  been working on putting all our hard work into our school play. We trained Monday, Tuesdays, Thursdays and even gave up mornings before school starts and a Sunday. The whole cast put in a lot of they're time and effort on making this play come together. I enjoyed learning all the dances and being able to watch the other cast perform and see our progress. Thank you to everyone that came and supported us and thank you to the teachers for making this all happen. I really enjoyed being up on stage and apart of it. These are some photo's that got taken of the play. Enjoy

S.T.E.A.M

Hey Bloggers,

On Wednesdays we go to tech and in the afternoon we done S.T.E.A.M which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths. We had to make something and put an egg in it then we dropped it off Sky High in the maker space and see which one didn't crack. There was:
3 sheets of A4 photocopy paper
A plastic bag
1
m of string
1 sheet of A5 thin card
Sellotape
Scissors
Paper to sketch design on.
Once we had sketched our design we had to go show the teachers and they would then give us an egg. This was our design.

Me and my group wrapped the egg in all the paper and secured it with sellotape and then wrapped the string around it just for extra security. After that we put it in the bag trying to get as  much air in it as possible so it would create an air bag type of thing, but sadly ours cracked. Here's how the final result.

Comparison and Differences between the Kiwi and Moa bird

 Kia Ora,

In literacy this week we have been looking at adaptation and what it isAn adaptation is a process in which an organism becomes best fitted to living in it’s specific habitat. These are changes that can be identified in 3 different categories; Structural, Physiological and Behavioural. We had to read 2 articles on 2 birds out of 4, I chose the Kiwi and the Moa but the other options were the Takahē, Kākāpō, Kiwi and Moa. After reading the articles we had to do a venn digram on the differences and comparisons of the 2 birds. This is how mine looks:

Do you know what adaptation is? Thanks for reading

What's the weather like in Te reo

 Hey Bloggers,

In Maori over the past couple of weeks we have been learning how to say whats the weather like in Maori and answer in Maori. Our  task was to create a scratch animation with 2 characters having a conversation about the weather. In my animation i chose to you the Maori words for cold and hot with a background that goes with what they are.  Enjoy!

The Maori word for cold is Makariri and the Maori word for hot is Wera, I used a mountain background because it's always cold in the mountains and i used the dessert because it's normally always hot in the dessert as well. Thanks for watching :)

Yanny Or Laurel?

 Hi bloggers,

In English we are learning about the audio of yanny and laurel, this audio is when 2 sounds are put over the top of each other which means your brain has to chose one. We had a vote on who heard yanny and who heard laurel and i heard yanny do you know why some people hear different things? It's because of frequency there is low and high frequency and it just means your better at hearing whatever frequency you hear.

Laurel is a low frequency like if you say it you can kinda hear it, your voice sounds more low pitch then if you say yanny that's about frequency. When you are better at hearing a low frequency it can sometimes mean you've damaged your hearing over time, that's why it's most common for adults to hear it more then children. If children do hear laurel it doesn't mean that they are loosing there hearing it just means they are better are hearing low frequency better then high, then again it doesn't mean that they don't hear high frequency. Children's hearing could still be a bit damaged if they hear laurel but it could also just be that they're hearing is better when its low frequency.

Yanny is a high pitch frequency unlike laurel which is a low frequency, if you say yanny your voice appears more high pitch then when you say laurel. People can hear yanny because they are better at hearing high frequency better then low frequency. Most kids can hear yanny because as a stated in the paragraph above hearing laurel can sometimes mean your hearing is damaged, but hearing yanny is just what your brain leans more towards when there's 2 sounds playing. There is a similar one but it's about and dress whether you see black and blue or white and gold, your brain decides which one it sees or hears in this case.

When something like this happens our brain thinks of both of the options like for example yanny and laurel or the black and blue dress or white and gold, our brain will decide by listening or looking at it long enough that your brain will make a decision on which one it sees or hears. It doesn't matter if your better at hearing low frequency or high frequency its just something other people are better at hearing. It doesn't always mean that you have damaged hearing if you hear laurel it's just based on frequency.

Thanks for reading, Let me know what you hear :)

What's the weather like today?

 Hiya!

In Maori today we looked at how to say what's the weather like today in Maori and answer in Maori. We then practised with the partner next to us, our task was to create a poster on how to say Whats the weather like. I asked the question then put pictures of the different weather types and put the Maori word under it, Enjoy :)

As you can see i asked the question and translated it so they knew what it meant, i then picked out some of the weather types and got photos of them. Thanks for reading!

We had to use one of the sites they gave us to explain it, I chose biteable. I explained what my favourite thing to do was and then explained why, this is mine.

Kayaking was my favourite because i have done it before and we went through a little cave and we played games like follow the leader and we also done races. Thanks for reading and watching :)

MY Lego Portrait

Hi,

On our first day back at school our teachers asked us to design a Lego man that looked like our self. I wear a grey Adidas top with black bottoms, so that's what i drew. I coloured my Lego man in yellow which means i didn't have any other light colour to do my hair with so i just had to use brown.  This is how mine turned out:

As you can see iv'e put the t-shirt on and the black bottoms also i didn't know what colour to put the shoes so i left them white.

Thanks for reading :)

My Pepha

Kia Ora readers,
We had to make a Pepha about ourself and our river, mountain and all about our ancestors. We then had to write about our parents and siblings, after that we put it in adobe spark. I worked on my pronunciation and started my voice over.  Then i added my photos that go with my words and previewed it to make sure it was good. This is my final result.
