Hi bloggers,
In English we are learning about the audio of yanny and laurel, this audio is when 2 sounds are put over the top of each other which means your brain has to chose one. We had a vote on who heard yanny and who heard laurel and i heard yanny do you know why some people hear different things? It's because of frequency there is low and high frequency and it just means your better at hearing whatever frequency you hear.
Laurel is a low frequency like if you say it you can kinda hear it, your voice sounds more low pitch then if you say yanny that's about frequency. When you are better at hearing a low frequency it can sometimes mean you've damaged your hearing over time, that's why it's most common for adults to hear it more then children. If children do hear laurel it doesn't mean that they are loosing there hearing it just means they are better are hearing low frequency better then high, then again it doesn't mean that they don't hear high frequency. Children's hearing could still be a bit damaged if they hear laurel but it could also just be that they're hearing is better when its low frequency.
Yanny is a high pitch frequency unlike laurel which is a low frequency, if you say yanny your voice appears more high pitch then when you say laurel. People can hear yanny because they are better at hearing high frequency better then low frequency. Most kids can hear yanny because as a stated in the paragraph above hearing laurel can sometimes mean your hearing is damaged, but hearing yanny is just what your brain leans more towards when there's 2 sounds playing. There is a similar one but it's about and dress whether you see black and blue or white and gold, your brain decides which one it sees or hears in this case.
When something like this happens our brain thinks of both of the options like for example yanny and laurel or the black and blue dress or white and gold, our brain will decide by listening or looking at it long enough that your brain will make a decision on which one it sees or hears. It doesn't matter if your better at hearing low frequency or high frequency its just something other people are better at hearing. It doesn't always mean that you have damaged hearing if you hear laurel it's just based on frequency.
Thanks for reading, Let me know what you hear :)
